Carlin has annpounced that Mikhail Aleshin has re-signed for second season in the World Series by Renault.

Aleshin finished eleventh in the standings during his rookie campaign with the highlight of his season coming in Istanbul with a second place finish - a result he secured despite picking up a damaged front wing and while carrying a neck injury.

Aleshin also finished on the podium at the Nurburgring having secured his maiden World Series pole and will now partner Sebastien Vettel in a strong looking line-up for the Carlin squad.

"I'm delighted that Mikhail will be staying with us next season," Trevor Carlin said of the decision to keep the 19-year-old for a second year. "He's a very quick and talented driver and did extremely well in his first season to post strong results.

"Mikhail improved race by race and he has continued this in off-season testing. He was very unlucky not to win a race last season and I think he will be strong contender for the title in 2007."
