The Durango team has confirmed that Alberto Valerio will compete with them in 2008, running in both the GP2 Series and GP2 Asia Series.

The 22-year-old, who has been a regular in various GP2 Series tests in recent years, running for not only Durango, but also Racing Engineering and Trident, is excited about the opportunity.

"This is really a great chance for me and I'm looking forward to starting the next official competitive season," said the Brazilian. "This is one of the moments that all racing drivers work towards - being part of a winning organisation like this.

"I am determined to do as much as I can, while doing the best possible job for the team. Durango has shown many times that it is an excellent place for a young driver to work and I intend to make the most of this opportunity.

"I would like to thank all at Durango for giving me the chance to prove myself at the maximum level and let me thank my sponsors and my family for supporting me again."

Durango team boss Ivone Pinton meanwhile is optimistic that Valerio will be able to shine and he was impressed with the youngster following his recent tests.

"We were already close to signing Alberto in the 2006 season," he added. "I'm very satisfied to welcome this driver, who we believe is ready to race in a demanding category like GP2 after his important experience in F3 in 2007.

"The kilometres of tests that we did together a month ago confirmed his abilities and we now look forward to 2008 with enthusiasm."
