Gregoire uninjured in Texas accident.

Indy Racing star Stephan Gregoire walked away from a crash during a test session at Texas Motor Speedway this afternoon [Thursday].

The Frenchman was one of five drivers testing at the Fort Worth circuit in preparation for next week's Excite 500 Indy Racing Northern Light Series finale, but lost control of the #7 Mexmil Dick Simon Racing G-Force-Aurora after 'something broke' on the car entering Turn Four.

Gregoire spun onto the infield grass bordering the front stretch, but the car dug in and began to flip, before coming to rest upside down and catching fire.

Fortunately for the driver, circuit safety crews responded immediately, and Gregoire was able to climb out of the wreck uninjured and walk away from the accident unaided.

"We're not sure exactly what happened - we're still trying to determine that," said crew chief Rich Simon. "Stephane was fortunately unhurt, and we're now going to work on preparing the back-up car for next week's race. We were able to run all morning, but we're done for the day."

Other drivers testing at the circuit included defending Indy Racing League champion Greg Ray [Team Menard], and defending Excite 500 race winner Mark Dismore [Kelley Racing], as well as Robby McGehee and Shigeaki Hattori for Treadway Racing.
