Firestone Indy Lights veteran Logan Gomez will return to the series in 2009 as driver of the #24 car fielded by Alliance Motorsports.

The 20-year old has made 33 career starts in the series, recording 18 top-10 finishes, seven top-fives and a victory at Chicagoland Speedway since debuting at the 2006 Liberty Challenge at Indianapolis, but hopes that Alliance, while largely unproven, can take him closer to the title than previous stints with Sam Schmidt Motorsport and Guthrie Racing allowed.

"I am very excited to continue my Firestone Indy Lights career with Alliance Motorsports," Gomez, who finished eighth overall on the back of nine top ten finishes in 2008, said. "There is a lot of potential with this organisation, and they proved that last year with some strong finishes. The team and I have built a good relationship, and we look forward to taking to the streets of St. Petersburg next week."

Alliance co-owner, and former IndyCar racer, Tyce Carlson also sees the arrival of an experienced campaigner as a boost for the second year team.

"The signing of Logan instantly positions ourselves as a strong contender this year," Carlson insisted, "He is a proven and talented driver, and we couldn't be happier. We have wanted to work with Logan since the first time that we met with him early last year, and we intend to give him our very best."

Gomez deal takes the Indy Lights field to 23 ahead of next weekend's double-header round in St Petersburg.
