Rocketsports Racing's Alex Tagliani suffered two major disappointments in the final minutes of Friday's activities at Surfers Paradise as first Bruno Junqueira denied him and his first year team another provisional pole position and then the Champ Car stewards found his car to be underweight.

After putting the bright blue #33 Johnson Controls Lola-Ford on the outside of the provisional front row for Sunday's Lexmark Indy 300 starting grid with a best time of 1 minute 33.265-seconds, a routine post-session technical inspection revealed Tagliani's machine was just underweight, therefore disqualifying all of the Canadian-born driver's provisional results.

"Well, I thought losing a potential pole in the last few minutes of the session was a letdown, but this is more disappointing," said Tagliani. "The pre and post session tech inspections show a difference in the weight of the car, but we are not sure where the problem is.

"The car is still very fast. The Rocketsports guys did a great job setting it up. It handles well on this track that has a lot of grip, similar to Long Beach and Monterrey, where we did well. We'll just come back tomorrow, try again and get it right," he concluded.
