Jim Bowie has quit his post at the ailing Championship Auto Racing Teams, adding to the organisation's worries ahead of a possible takeover/merger with Open Wheel Racing Series.

A senior director in charge of team, manufacturer and supplier partnerships at CART, Bowie announced his resignation in order to take up an appointment as director of business development at sports marketing agency Continental. While at CART, Bowie offered strategic sponsorship support for the teams and their partners in both the Champ Car World Series and the Toyota Atlantic Championship.

"Jim is extremely knowledgeable and very well respected within the industry," Continental's founder and president Henry Rischitelli commented to sportsbusiness.com, "His presence will have an immediate impact on our clients and service offerings."
