Mark Taylor, who celebrated his 26th birthday just days after the official announcement, had double reason to celebrate after his election to one of the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association [AARWBA] All-American teams.

Taylor accompanied fellow Indy Racing League drivers Gil de Ferran, Scott Dixon and Sam Hornish in selection to the 2003 Auto Racing All-America team, which will be honoured on 10 January at the 34th annual AARWBA banquet in California - just three days after the Briton returns to the United States to begin the build-up to his first IRL season.

The former F3 race winner convincingly won the 2003 Menards Infiniti Pro Series championship for Panther Racing, dominating the standings with a record seven wins,
and was selected to the first team in the 'At Large' category at the AARWBA Awards.

"I really didn't expect to receive such an award - and it is a privilege to be linked in the same award with one of my heroes Gil de Ferran, not to mention Scott Dixon and Sam Hornish," he admitted, "It has made my birthday twice as good!"
