Brazilian driver Mario Haberfeld has revealed that he will be testing with the Conquest Racing team at Sebring this week, even though he has yet to confirm a deal with any team for this year's Champ Car World Series.

Haberfeld, who ran with Conquest in his Champ Car debut season last year, was invited to test by team boss Eric Bachelart, but admitted that he was pursuing a range of offers for 2004.

"We have developed some things during the winter and Eric asked me to test them," Haberfeld said, "I am still talking with other teams, but I thought that it was important for me to come back and work with Conquest. We built a good relationship last year and continuity is always a factor in being competitive."

The Brazilian admitted that he was happy to know where his future lay, after much uncertainty over the future of the Champ Car series during the winter.

"I am happy to be back in action, as it has been four months since the last race in Australia," he said, "CART (sic) is the premier open wheel racing series in the United States and I am happy to see it continue.

"I can finally start making definite decisions regarding the 2004 season, and build upon my achievements of last season. With the bidding process now behind us, and
having had time to analyse all offers for 2004, I should be able to make an announcement regarding my team for 2004 within the next few days. As they say, now it's time to 'put the pedal to the metal' and get ready for the season."
