With six races remaining on the 2004 IRL IndyCar Series schedule, Marlboro Team Penske teammates Helio Castroneves and Sam Hornish Jr head to the Kentucky Speedway for this weekend's Belterra Casino Indy 300 focusing on staying in touch with points leader Tony Kanaan over the next crucial stretch of three races.

With the Series tackling Kentucky, Pikes Peak and Nazareth over the course of the next three weekends, Kanaan's 57 point advantage at the top of the standings could either get wiped out completely, or grow to an insurmountable level.

Castroneves is currently fourth in the points table with 280 points, 120 points behind Kanaan while Hornish Jr is fifth, 133 markers in arrears. Both drivers have an impressive past resume at the 1.5-mile Kentucky oval, which they hope will put them in good stead this weekend.

Castroneves has started and finished in the top-five in both of his appearances at the Speedway. He finished fifth in 2003 and 2002 and started third in 2003 and fourth in 2002.

Hornish Jr, who has tallied three consecutive top-four finishes, is coming to a track that has brought him tremendous success over the past few seasons. In four years of competition at Kentucky Speedway, Hornish Jr. has three top-three finishes, including a win from the pole last season. In addition, Hornish Jr. has led 29% (231 out of 799) of the laps he's run in Kentucky.
