Bryan Herta will start from 21st on the grid for the Belterra Casino Indy 300 after being forced into an engine change following the second of two Saturday practices sessions.

Under IRL rules, Herta wasn't allowed to make a qualifying attempt during the afternoon's qualifying session as the
engine change took place prior to qualifying during a two-day event.

"It's disappointing for the XM Satellite Radio team, but those are the rules," Herta said afterwards. "It's not what you want, but we've got a good car and this is a track where the good cars can get to the front. We'll be alright."

Herta, who finished third in this event in 2003, had posted the twelfth fastest overall speed during the practice sessions, but the team was uncomfortable with some of the data it reviewed following the session and decided to make the precautionary engine change.
