One of Mexico's top rising open-wheel racing stars will return to scene of perhaps his greatest victory following the announcement that 23-year-old David Martinez will compete for the US RaceTronics team at the second round of the Toyota Atlantic championship at Monterrey.

Martinez, who has lived in Monterrey since he was four-years-old, will continue testing for US RaceTronics this week and will race in the #7 entry with sponsorship from Roshfrans in the race later this month at the same circuit where he collected a stunning win in the 2003 Barber Dodge Pro Series - becoming the first Mexican driver to win an international race in his home country.

"I have pretty good memories of racing in Monterrey," he said. "I really want to experience racing in front of the Mexican fans again. Working with Shane [Seneviratne - team owner] and the team and the experience they have in the series, I think we can do very well in this race.

"I'm excited about racing in Atlantics again. I love the people that work in the series and it's very competitive. I want to thank Shane and the team and I want to thank Roshfrans for this opportunity."

Martinez has one Atlantic start under his belt, having finished 15th at Monterrey back in 2002 while running for the Condor Motorsports team.
