Will Power will start his home round of the Champ Car World Series from the front of the grid after the Team Australia man led the way during the final qualifying session on the streets of Surfers Paradise.

Power, who snared pole on the Gold Coast last season, posted a quick time of 1min 30.054secs which saw him finish nearly four tenths of a second clear of Paul Tracy. Tracy however had to console himself with third on the grid, with Oriol Servia having already taken his place on the front row with his time in Friday's opening session.

It didn't take long for Power to jump to the top of the timing sheets and on only his fourth lap he had dipped under the time posted by Servia in first qualifying to take his place up front. However, he didn't rest on his laurels and continued to put in quick laps - eventually shattering the lap record of Cristiano da Matta to take a fourth pole of the year.

Having struggled in recent events, Tracy was back on form for Forsythe Championship to secure third on the grid where he will be joined by Sebastien Bourdais, who bounced back from his mishap in Friday's session to secure fourth on the grid.

Justin Wilson, tipped by many to replace Bourdais at Newman Haas Lanigan next season, starts fifth alongside the top rookie driver Simon Pagenaud in the second Team Australia entry. Bruno Junqueira, Neel Jani, Graham Rahal and Dan Clarke complete the top ten.
