Ed Carpenter Racing with Scuderia Corsa driver Ed Jones has been medically cleared to drive with a broken hand in this weekend’s IndyCar Classic at the Circuit of the Americas.

The 24-year-old from Dubai crashed heavily in the Turn 9 concrete barrier during the season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg two weeks ago. His disabled car was then hit by the No. 4 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet of Mattheus Leist.

The driver of the No. 20 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet met with a hand surgeon in Miami after the race to have the hand splinted. Leading up to this weekend’s inaugural IndyCar Classic, he was evaluated by INDYCAR medial directed Geoffrey Billows and was cleared to race.
