After the hot and humid conditions that accompanied the start of the annual 24 Hours, Le Mans currently welters under a blanket of dark and foreboding clouds.

The French circuit was hit by a cloudburst before the traditional 4pm start on Saturday, but the evening and overnight portions of the race were held in largely warm and pleasant conditions, despite the odd rumour that precipitation was being felt out and about around its 8mile length.

Now, however, dawn has been accompanied by low, dark clouds and a distinct drop in temperature to go with increased wind speeds.

Rain to spice up the third quarter of the race? Don't bet against it....
