Team Jota, the leading British team in last season's SR2 FIA Sportscar Championship, has revealed that it will be entering this year's Le Mans 24 Hours in June.

The team recently purchased a Zytek 04S sportscar and will also be racing in the new Le Mans Endurance Series [LMES], which begins at Monza early in May.

Operating since 1998 under the guidance of its two owner/drivers, John Stack and Sam Hignett, Jota sees the newly created LMES as a great opportunity to step up to a new level of competition. Stack and Hignett will be joined by Italian sportscar ace Gianni Collini for the four 1000-kilometre races that make up the LMES, as well as at the 24 Hours.

"The team has gone from strength to strength over the past two seasons, and we're very excited to be driving in the LMES and at Le Mans," Hignett commented.

Technology partners QinetiQ, one of Europe's largest science and technology solutions providers, will provide the team with technical consultancy services as well as the implementation of some of its core automotive technologies, including a GPS system, aerodynamic and composite components. QinetiQ will also trial new automotive technologies through the team, whose car livery will display bold branding for the company.

"The aim of this partnership, and of our technical consultancy, is to showcase QinetiQ's wide expertise in research and development in the global motor sport arena, by improving the performance of Team Jota," QinetiQ's automotive manager, Steve Farmer, said.

Team Jota and a scale model of the new car will be exhibiting at this weekend's Autosport International exhibition in Birmingham.
