Respected Sportscar regular Christian Vann has signed with Courage Competition to drive their factory LMP1 class Courage C60H in the LMES championship and the Le Mans 24 hours in 2005.

Vann is looking forward to working with the French factory team.

"The opportunity to drive with Courage came up at fairly short notice, so we have worked hard putting all the pieces together, but the team have been super professional, and having driven the car for the first time last week on the Bugatti circuit, I am really looking forward to this year," he said.

"The car is very quick and feels bulletproof, so we can go to every race feeling competitive, which is great for any driver."

Vann, the 1999 privateer champion with the Chamberlain Viper, and winner of the 2001 Monza 1000Km in the Ferrari 333SP takes backing from Trafigura oil and metals, who enter motorsport for the first time.

Graham Sharp, a director of Trafigura, commented: "We are really pleased to have the opportunity to back Christian and Courage, the programme is exciting and should be a success for all of us."

Courage and Vann are now gearing up for the official LMES test day at the Paul Ricard track in the South of France on April 1-2.

The LMES championship kicks off with the Spa 1000Km on April 17.
