Despite missing out on a full-season entry into the Le Mans Series this season, Giovanni Lavaggi has confirmed that his Scuderia Lavaggi team will take part in selected events this season.

The Lavaggi LS1 endured a difficult 2007 on track following a series of mechanical issues but is now set to take part in the events at Nurburging and Spa, with the possibility that other dates may still be added to the team's schedule.

"Last year we suffered several troubles and failures of the engine, which we could not easily find a remedy for as the engine comes from a old style road engine," Lavaggi said. "On the other hand our chassis gave us great satisfaction; it allowed us to run keeping up the pace of cars which, on paper, were supposed to perform better than ours. That's why I decided to put the maximum effort in order to have a 'racing' engine installed in our LS1 for 2008 season.

"I'm very pleased to confirm that the AER 8V bi-turbo engine, which has already proved to be reliable and competitive, will push our LS1, hopefully towards some strong finishes."
