The Scuderia Lavaggi team secured a top ten finish in the annual Vallelunga Six Hour race, with Giovanni Lavaggi and Wolfgang Kaufmann battling a number of minor issues to finish as the leading prototype machine and post the quickest lap time of the race.

The pair had qualified on pole position in the Lavaggi LS1-AER but had to battle with a broken alternator belt, a loss of fluid in the clutch and a suspension issue during the course of the race.

However, once the various issues were resolved, the pair were able to battle back through the field to take the chequered flag in tenth place as the Ferrari 430 of Marco Cioci, Piergiuseppe Perazzini and Maurizio Mediani took overall honours.

"Certainly, we were expecting a better outcome of this race at the end of the season, just looking at the car's performance," Lavaggi admitted. "But anyhow, the pole position yesterday, the quickest lap in the race, and finally, crossing the finish line of a six hour endurance race is a more than positive balance for a small team like ours having constructed the car by our own means.

"I would like to thank everybody who has given me support so far, and I promise to be in charge for even better results in the future."
