Pescarolo has endured a rough ride thus far in the Le Mans 24 Hours having lost its new Pescarolo 03-Judd in the opening half of the race.

Already down to two drivers after the withdrawal of Jean-Christophe Boullion, the car suffered an engine failure in Saturday morning's warm-up, with the replacement unit then down on power when the race got underway.

With the power-steering on the new car then suffering a fault, the team elected to retire the car, leaving its focus firmly on the Dome 102.5 also being campaigned this year - although a series of problems there mean the car is well down the field.

"We took the decision to stop the Pescarolo 03," team boss Henri Pescarolo said. "The brand new V8 was missing so much power that our car was slower in a straight line than a LMP2. In short, a symptom heralding a new engine problem. As for the steering column bearing seized, this problem only happens on a car that does not have much mileage. But as for now, we can't clearly diagnose the cause of this failure.

"All hopes of the team are now placed on the Dome 102.5 S #17, the second car entered by the Pescarolo Team. "
