Jamie Dobb enters the ninth round of the Motocross GP World Championship this weekend ready to face the notoriously power soaking sand of Lierop, in Holland.

Helping the 31-year-old in his quest for glory will be his factory KTM 450 four-stroke, which he will race for just the fourth time on Sunday. Dobb claimed his highest position of the season with 5th place several weeks ago at the historic circuit of Namur (pictured) and is now is only looking upwards.

But the Brit won't just be concentrating on Sunday's main event: with Steve Ramon the only current KTM rider confirmed for next year Dobb also needs to convince his Austrian bosses to keep him for next season.

At present, he lies 11th in the standings and spent a day testing in the Netherlands last week in preparation for the event.

"The last time I came to this circuit I had just won the (2001 125cc) World Championship and had been testing in Belgium where I hurt my neck," said Jamie. "After one lap in practice I could barely move through pain and it kicked-off a period of numerous injury problems and that lasted more than a year.

"This time I am hoping that a hard time of my career will be closed at the venue where it was opened," he stated. "I am feeling great and have been training hard over the last fortnight. We went testing in Holland last week and with the settings for the sand the bike felt good.

"I can take confidence from my fifth place in Namur and now I have four races left to show that I can take the kind of results of which I am capable Lierop is a tough old circuit. It looks like it will be a hot weekend and it will definitely be the hardest race of the season physically. The sand is quite deep and it takes it out on the legs.

"Compared to other tracks there is hardly a moment where you can take a breather; maybe on 2 or 3 corners can you sit down. I am relishing the challenge and really looking forward to this weekend," he concluded.

The following week, Dobb is set to contest a round of the KWS British International Masters series taking place in Ireland and is also planning to release his book Jamie Dobb: A season in the life of a Motocross World Champion.

The forecast for the weekend predicts sunshine and hot weather.
