2015 Sepang MotoGP Test Live

7 February, 2015 - 11:07

It's far from conclusive but of the Michelin laps we timed with a stopwatch today, Colin Edwards had the fastest with a time just under 2min 1sec.

7 February, 2015 - 10:12

For comparison Aoyama set a best lap of 2m 1.029s earlier this week on Bridgestone tyres. That fits in with the difference of around 1.0-1.5s between Bridgestone and Michelin that is being unofficially suggested in the paddock. So Michelin already seem close in terms of lap time, but the three accidents at Turn 5 indicate there is work to do in terms of feel with the front tyre. That's not surprising as the Bridgestone front is regarded as something special by the riders.

7 February, 2015 - 10:04

Honda test rider Hiroshi Aoyama is last rider in. Stopwatch times suggest Aoyama set a pace between high 2m 1s and low 2m 2s during his last run.

7 February, 2015 - 10:03

Red lights at Sepang brings this week's four-day MotoGP test to an end.

7 February, 2015 - 10:01

Michelin will decide on the final specification for their 2016 tyres later this year after data from tests. Move from 16.5 to 17-inch means everything changes. Nothing carried over from previous GP tyres.

7 February, 2015 - 09:41

20 minutes left of the Michelin test. Pirro (Ducati), Laverty (Aprilia) and de Puniet (Suzuki) on track.

7 February, 2015 - 09:38

Edwards was surprised by his fall, but unhurt and said he could have ridden the bike back. Not allowed to talk lap times but happy.

7 February, 2015 - 08:18

So that's de Puniet (Suzuki), Aoyama (Honda) and now Edwards (Yamaha) that have all fallen at the corner. All are said to be lowside falls, from losing the front.

7 February, 2015 - 08:03

Fall for Colin Edwards - and again it's at the fast turn five left hander. Rider ok.

7 February, 2015 - 07:42

3:45pm and Randy de Puniet returns to the track for Suzuki after his earlier accident.

7 February, 2015 - 07:12

Looks like Colin Edwards is first back out on track after lunch. Just gone 3pm local time at Sepang.

7 February, 2015 - 04:38

MotoGP rookie Maverick Vinales, like Suzuki team-mate Aleix Espargaro, has returned to Sepang to watch today's tyre test

7 February, 2015 - 04:33

Heavy fall for a Honda test rider. Looks like Turn 5. Same corner as de Puniet.

7 February, 2015 - 03:15

That's a fast place to fall and de Puniet's bike looks to have significant damage to the rear. Rider looks to have walked away.

7 February, 2015 - 03:14

Suzuki test rider Randy de Puniet has fallen at turn 5.

7 February, 2015 - 02:58

A stopwatch lap for Aprilia test rider Michael Laverty also suggests a lap time around two-seconds slower than his best on Bridgestones earlier this week.

7 February, 2015 - 02:49

A stopwatch lap for Ducati's Michele Pirro suggests a lap time of around 2min 2.5-3secs. That would be around 1.3-1.8 seconds slower than his best over the previous three days on Bridgestone tyres with Pramac. But it's a very rough estimate and, timing errors aside, only one lap.

7 February, 2015 - 02:34

The test riders are out on track with the Michelins, but no lap times unfortunately

7 February, 2015 - 02:04

Morning from the Michelin test day at Sepang. This extra day is just for factory test riders (no race riders) to try the tyres Michelin are developing ahead of their 2016 return, when they will replace Bridgestone as exclusive tyre supplier.

6 February, 2015 - 10:02

Red lights are on and the first MotoGP test of 2015 is over at Sepang. This morning's fastest ever laps didn't get beaten so the order remained Marquez 1m 58.867s, Pedrosa +0.139s, Iannone +0.521s, Rossi +0.534s, Lorenzo +0.757s, P Espargaro +0.984s...
