Fresh from his domination of the Jerez test, Julian Simon was the fastest of the world championship riders during a wet start to the Valencia test on Saturday, despite being outpaced by Spanish Championship rider Alberto Moncayo.

Competitors from the Italian and Spanish national championships have joined the world championship riders at the Valencia test, with Moncayo putting his Andalucia Derbi on top of the 125cc list by over a second from Simon's Aspar Aprilia.

Simon only complied 39 laps compared with 82 for Moncayo, but that was 39 more than team-mate Bradley Smith. Smith had been second fastest to Simon on all three days at Jerez but was one of a number of riders to sit out the wet Saturday action.

Smith's former Repsol Honda team-mate Esteve Rabat, now at Blusens Aprilia, was third fastest despite recording only eleven laps. Rabat's grand prix winning team-mate Scott Redding lapped half a second slower, allowing Italian Nicolas Stizzi to squeeze in-between.

Testing continues on Sunday.
