As expected, the FIM has formally confirmed that Friday morning practice will return to the MotoGP schedule for the 2011 season.

The announcement had been long anticipated after the additional sessions was reinstated for the final two races of 2010, contrary to the regulations that were announced prior to the start of the season.

As such, MotoGP action will get underway at 10.10 local time (with 125 at 9.15 and Moto2 at 11.10), with the second session occurring 14.10. Both MotoGP and Moto2 sessions will be 45mins in length, while 125 sessions are 40mins.

Saturday sessions remain unchanged - with FP3 taking place at 10.10 -, though only qualifying will be an hour long.

The additional track time will help those either new to the MotoGP grid and - to a lesser extent - with new teams in 2011, most notably rookies Cal Crutchlow and Karel Abraham.
