Pramac Ducati's Randy de Puniet will not take part in Monday's post-race test at Estoril after suffering intense pain in his left knee during Sunday's Portuguese Grand Prix.

The Frenchman recently had a screw removed from the knee, inserted after last year's Sachsenring crash, but had not done a race distance prior to his tenth place at Estoril. de Puniet fears he may have some form of ligament damage.

"Before the start of the race, if I knew I'd finish tenth, I'd have celebrated the result this weekend," said de Puniet, who had qualified just 16th. "But I don't know what happened with my knee. It hurt very badly in the race, and I didn't have enough strength in my legs.

"I had X-rays earlier this week, but I don't know how my ligaments are. I hope it's not anything serious, but [on Monday] I will return at home for a check-up.

"As for the bike, we'll try to fix the problems with the front. I'm happy for the six points earned, but without the pain in my knee, my result would undoubtedly have been better. We must work to find the same feeling as Losail and Jerez."

Team-mate Loris Capirossi and all other riders are expected on track for the test.
