According to the Financial Times, Infront Sports and Media - whose portfolio includes the commercial rights to the World Superbike Championship - is being put up for sale.

And in an added twist, one of the three bidders indentified by the FT is none other than private equity group Bridgepoint, the majority shareholder of Dorna Sports, which owns the commercial rights to MotoGP.

Bridgepoint acquired MotoGP in 2006 after previous owner, CVC, was forced to sell in order to buy the rights to the Formula One World Championship (which it still owns).

Should the Bridgepoint bid be successful it could have big implications for both MotoGP and WSBK, which are often seen as fighting over the same fan base.

The FT states that the Qatar Investment Authority is another of the bidders for Infront, plus an unidentified wealth fund from Abu Dhabi.
