The Desguaces La Torre SAG Team have announced that Damian Cudlin will be their stand-in rider for the next two rounds of the Moto2 world championship after Angel Rodriguez suffered a succession of lacklustre results.

Cudlin had originally held a Moto2 ride at the beginning of the season with the QMMF team only to be ousted at the last minute to make way for his fellow countryman Anthony West.

He will now be the team-mate to Marco Colandrea for round seven at Assen and the following race weekend at Sachsenring, where he previously finished 7th in the 2010 Moto2 race when replacing the injured Axel Pons.

The 29 year old was also seen in the MotoGP paddock last year standing in for Loris Capirossi at Pramac in Motegi and for Hector Barbera at Aspar in Phillip Island, where he sustained a hip injury in practice and was unable to race.

This year Cudlin was part of the BMW Motorrad France team which won the 8 Hours of Doha endurance race alongside Frenchmen Hugo Marchand, Erwan Nigon and Sachar Rodenbusch.

Cudlin aims to make the most of his opportunity to race in Moto2 this season:

"This is a fantastic opportunity for me I will try to make the most from it. I've competed with the best in the world in the past and I performed very well, and now I think that I can do it again.

"Assen is a legendary circuit and I've raced here in 2010, I have good memories from the Cathedral because I won there in Supersport. I hope to have a good race, I'm eager to get back on a Moto2 bike again."
