A moment of silence will be held just before Sunday's inaugural MotoGP race at the Circuit of The Americas, in memory of victims of this week's Boston Marathon bombings and Texas Fertilizer Plant explosion.

Latest reports state that the bombings in Boston killed three and injured 180 people, while the plant explosion in West, Texas, may have claimed the lives of as many as 15 people while injuring more than 160 others.

COTA president Steve Sexton (pictured) said: "The Circuit of The Americas family was greatly saddened by these tragic events, and we know the international community joining us for MotoGP activities this weekend shares our concern about what happened in Boston on Monday and last night in West, Texas, just 100 miles north of Austin.

"We will take time prior to Sunday's MotoGP race to remember those who've lost so much this week and to share our deepest sympathies with the victims and their families."
