Karel Abraham, who broke his right collarbone during a qualifying clash at Austin, is to attempt a comeback in this weekend's Spanish MotoGP at Jerez.

Abraham sustained the injury during an ill-judged pass on rookie Bryan Staring, and underwent surgery shortly after the accident.

Although a recent check-up has revealed some complications, Abraham still intends to try and ride his Cardion ART in the opening European event of the year.

"I want to get back on the track as soon as possible," said the Czech rider. "We will try to ride in Jerez and we?ll see what happens. The recovery is in progress, but my doctor found some complications. The biggest one is that the scar is overgrowing into the collarbone. I?m trying to rehabilitate, even it?s very painful.

"But I was assured that there aren?t any risk of aggravation of the injury. The most important is to avoid any crash on the hurt shoulder. I stay focused and hope to be able to ride whole weekend and to finish the race."
