The chance to use a softer specification of Bridgestone rear tyre, available for the CRT riders this year, is yet to be confirmed for the revised 2014 privateer MotoGP class.

The softer rear is not a new type of tyre, but simply a softer compound than those offered to the manufacturer riders from Honda, Yamaha and Ducati at each race.

The option was introduced to suit the lower power output of the CRT machines and has been hailed as perhaps the most significant factor in helping the leading privateer riders challenge the slower official machines this season - especially in qualifying.

But new privateer bikes from Honda, Yamaha and possibly Ducati will become available next year and, when asked if the softer rear will continue, Bridgestone stated that nothing is yet confirmed with "discussions still ongoing between Bridgestone, Dorna and the FIM."

The main privateer perks already confirmed for next year are the increase in fuel per race (a rise from three to four litres more than factory entries) and the difference in engine changes per season (twelve instead of five, as at present).

However all of the privateers must use the full control ECU system from 2014, while the current 'claiming rule', aimed at controlling privateer costs and technology, will be abolished.
