Former MotoGP star Max Biaggi is conducting his latest test with Aprilia, at Mugello.

Aprilia, which has just one Open-class ART machine on this year's grid with Ioda's Danilo Petrucci, is preparing for a Factory MotoGP return in 2016.

Biaggi's previous ART test, in mid-May, was hampered by bad weather.

Romano Albesiano, Manager of Aprilia Racing, said: "With favourable weather we finally manage to get the scheduled work plan on the track. As I've already said, the technical directors always value what Max points out, which will contribute to the references we are using to develop the Aprilia prototype for the MotoGP.

"Biaggi knows the working group well and is familiar with the personality of the motorcycle which, even if highly evolved, has roots in the RSV4 design that he brought to be a success. We are therefore in an optimal situation: a sensitive pilot that's hard to come by, a motorcycle constantly growing and the need to gather data."

A four time 250cc world champion and double WSBK champion, Biaggi claimed all but one of his titles with Aprilia before retiring at the end of 2012.

At the conclusion of today's testing Biaggi tweeted:
