Andrea Iannone joked that he will buy Marc Marquez dinner in return for helping him claim a front row start for Sunday's Czech Republic MotoGP.

Iannone shadowed the reigning world champion during his crucial final run in Saturday's Qualifying 2.

The tow initially put Iannone on pole position, with the Pramac rider eventually nudged to third by Marquez and the Factory Ducati of Andrea Dovizioso.

"I'm very happy for my front row. The second time this year. Today Marc helped me a lot. I think I'll pay for dinner for Marc!" he joked.

"But I pushed hard for this lap. Yesterday I didn't have a good feeling with my bike and Dovi was much faster than me. I worked really hard with my team to improve my performance and I was not so bad today. I think tomorrow I have the possibility of a good race.

"For me these at this track the braking points are very difficult. It is very difficult for me to stop the bike.

"My lap was good but Marc was more fast because in the braking points he is very strong. I tried to do my best [behind] Marc but for me it is impossible to have the pole position."

Iannone will join Dovizioso in the Factory Ducati team next season.
