A second Australian circuit could join the MotoGP calendar in the near future after FIM safety officer Franco Uncini visited SA Motorsport Park in Adelaide.

After a two-hour inspection of the construction site, Uncini declared that the circuit would be able to meet MotoGP's class A standard.

"In general the circuit is very safe and very exciting," Adelaide's The Advertiser reports Uncini as saying.

"I have worked with the [site developers] Peregrine Corporation for some time and it is fantastic to be here for the first time and see this fantastic layout.

"There is no reason not to have two MotoGP events in Australia."

Phillip Island currently hosts the Australian MotoGP round.

Uncini tipped the new circuit to be ready by 2018, but any new addition to the MotoGP calendar would need to reach an agreement with commercial rights holder Dorna Sports.
