Dani Pedrosa will return to MotoGP action at this weekend's Valencia season finale.

The Spaniard has been absent for the past three races after breaking his right collarbone fracture in a massive practice highside at Motegi.

Pedrosa required surgery for the injury, while further fractures to his right fibula and fourth metatarsal on his left foot were also discovered.

"These past three weeks haven't been easy because of the pain, especially immediately after the operation, and also because I missed racing at some of my favourite tracks," Pedrosa said.

"Anyway, after I started with my rehab, things began getting better day-by-day, and the thought of trying to recover in time for Valencia was a boost that helped during the tougher moments.

"We're still not sure about how I'll feel on the bike, but anyway I'm happy to be able to get back to racing! I love the Valencia track, I have fantastic memories here and I like the idea of getting back to action in front of my fans."

Due to his absence, Pedrosa has dropped to sixth in the world championship standings, seven points behind Sepang winner Andrea Dovizioso and 14 ahead of LCR Honda's Cal Crutchlow.

Repsol Honda will be especially pleased at Pedrosa's return.

Although team-mate Marc Marquez wrapped up the MotoGP riders' title several rounds ago, his accident last time at Sepang means Repsol Honda has lost the lead of the teams' championship, trailing Movistar Yamaha by ten points heading into Valencia.

The results of both riders count towards the teams' title.

The constructors' championship - which only counts the best placed rider from each brand - should be less problematic for Honda, which holds a 21-point advantage over Yamaha.

HRC test rider Hiroshi Aoyama (Motegi, Sepang) and 2006 world champion Nicky Hayden (Phillip Island) replaced Pedrosa during his absence.

With his World Superbike race commitments complete, Hayden was tipped to ride at Valencia should Pedrosa have been unfit to return.

Pedrosa faces a punishing schedule with an important post-race test taking place at Valencia on Tuesday and Wednesday.
