Manuel Poggiali won the 125cc race today in the Gran Premi Marlboro de Catalunya having beaten Pedrosa on the final straight by a fraction of a second. The two riders fought every inch of the way, after the breakaway group of three they were in became two following Ui?s fall nine laps from the end. Pedrosa had led for much of the race, while Poggiali had to come from behind after nearly falling on the second lap.

Behind the lead group, Jenkner was left on his own to claim third, whilst Joan Olive, who began the race lapping in the top three, lost ground towards the end, eventually finishing sixth, behind Sanna and Cecchinello.

Poggiali has consolidated his championship lead, he now has 110 points, while Vincent who came home eleventh, is now 20 points behind the San Marino rider. Pedrosa is in third position with 86 points.
