Yamaha has announced that Norick Abe will ride a Yamaha YZR-M1 four stroke for the last two rounds of the 2002 season.

The Japanese star has openly stated his disappointment at being overlooked for an M1 ride when it was announced that Gauloises Tech 3 team-mate Shinja Nakano and Olivier Jacque would become the first riders - other than the factory Marlboro Team - to have the race winning machinery, starting this weekend in Sepang.

Antena 3 d'Antin rider Abe is currently the highest placed YZR500 two-stroke in the championship (sixth). His new ride takes the Yamaha four-stroke total to five for the final two races at Philip Island and Valencia.
