At today's historic launch of their Desmosedici V4, 2001 World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss, who has ridden Ducatis exclusively since 1998, spoke of his pride at being part of the new GP project.

"I am pleased to be part of the Ducati Desmosedici project," smiled the easy going Aussie, winner of 22 World Superbike races over the past three seasons. "The bike is totally different from the Ducati 998 Superbike I was used to, and I'll probably need some more time before I can really put the new bike through its paces.

"Also, I've never raced at most of the MotoGP circuits, so that's something else I have to learn," he warned. "However, all of this is both stimulating and gratifying, and I'm honoured and proud that Ducati has chosen me to be a part of the Ducati MotoGP Team."
