Crash.net, the first website to publish the often uncompromising reports of Desiree Crossman, girlfriend of Suzuki star John 'Hopper' Hopkins, presents her latest update after final qualifying for the Rio Grand Prix, including the latest on John's condition after his heavy qualifying fall...

"Well everyone,

"I've just got off the chat during the qualifying session. During the chat I was watching the times on Motogp.com and noticed John's times. He hadn't crossed the 4th section on lap 7, so I called his manager and found out John crashed. When he got on the phone, I asked John what happened and he said he had no grip in the rear and now he's in the medical centre.

"Apparently he's banged up, don't know if he's going to race tomorrow. People in the chat were watching as well along with some family in England who emailed me saying the crash was not good as they can watch it live.

"He qualified at 18th with his time not improving from yesterday. The weather down there is sunny and warm which isn't good for the bike. Kenny (Roberts) qualified at 19th, with his time almost the same as John's. I guess the bike is at it's limit, unfortunately.

"Capirossi did good getting on pole for awhile, but Rossi stole it again. Nicky (Hayden) and Tamada did well for their first time at the track, those damn Hondas. Gaz (McCoy) is 13th which is good, hooray for Gaz!!!!

"When I spoke to John earlier this morning, he said everyone had picked up the pace and the Suzuki's were still the same. He's really sore and I don't know if he's going to ride. From what was told to me, it's a dangerous bike to ride and it shouldn't be ridden. Heard (that) from a powerful source. I can't tell you how true that is cause' I'm not there, but I can only imagine.

"Will keep you up to date with John and his condition, he's ok but really sore and pissed off.

"Speak tomorrow,"

Des

"P.S. Thanks for everyone who logged onto the chat session (on Hopperracing.com) during the qualifying, it was fun."
