Dani Pedrosa will get the chance to celebrate his 125cc World Championship conquest in style this weekend, with a lap of honour in front of his home fans at the season ending Valencia Grand Prix.

The Spaniard, who won his title over three weeks ago in Malaysia, is recovering from the effects of an operation to repair two broken ankles sustained in a practice accident at Phillip Island, but will bravely make the trip to Valencia by helicopter from his home near Barcelona on Sunday morning.

On his arrival at the Ricardo Tormo circuit, the teenager will be helped into an open-topped car for a celebratory lap in front of a passionate local crowd expected to reach 120,000 people.

The trip should provide a huge boost to Pedrosa, who is aiming to return to action early next year, when he is scheduled to begin an intense 250cc testing programme.
