Reigning British Superbike Champion Shane Byrne got further MotoGP mileage under his belt today at Valencia, as he lapped the GP circuit with the likes of Honda, Ducati and Proton KR riders.

Due to overnight rain and morning dampness, the test only began in the afternoon, when 'Shakey' could begin to learn the circuit as well as his new machine. The Brit completed almost sixty laps - much more than the leading Honda and Ducati riders - consistently improving his pace down to a 1min 37.60secs best.

Although Byrne's new team-mate Jeremy McWilliams wasn't at Valencia today, Aprilia did call upon experienced test rider Marcellino Lucchi, who ran through development parts for the 2004 spec bike. Testing will continue tomorrow and conclude Friday.
