Sixteen year-old Chaz Davies has a date in London on Sunday night after being nominated for one of the top three places in the prestigious BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

Davis, who is the youngest ever rider to finish in the top ten of a 250cc World Championship race, was voted into the top three by viewers of the Blue Peter Programme, after originally being nominated into the top ten (see separate story).

The Aprilia Germany rider will now travel to London on Sunday for the live awards ceremony at BBC Television Centre.

World Superbike Champion Neil Hodgson will also be there and is hoping to finish in the top six of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, which looks certain to be dominated by the victorious England Rugby Team.

Meanwhile, British Superbike Champion Shane Byrne took time off from testing the MotoGP Aprilia he will ride next year, to collect the BBC South East's Sports Personality of the Year on Sunday evening.
