The Italian, who suffered an appalling run of mechanical problems prior to Donington, took the lead from pole into turn one of the 125cc Dutch TT - and was never headed again, eventually winning by a commanding 6.115secs.

Meanwhile, a six rider fight for second raged throughout the 22 laps, with world championship leader Hector Faubel eventually beating Aspar Aprilia team-mate and title rival Gabor Talmacsi by just 0.031secs at the chequered flag.
