After a handful of MotoGP laps over the last few seasons, Alex Marquez - younger brother of reigning four-time champion Marc Marquez - will get a 'real' test at Jerez next week.

The Spaniard will swap his usual Marc VDS Kalex for the team's RC213V, in place of the injured Thomas Luthi.

Asked to pass on some advice to his younger sibling, Marc Marquez said:

“I will be there just to enjoy it, but you cannot ask him a lot of things. It will be a one-day test, and he needs to enjoy the experience. It's just something to have fun, of course the team asked him to do it, because the team needs to learn, also the mechanics.

“But he needs to have fun, and the first time you ride a MotoGP bike, sure if you speak with the rookies, everything is good.

"He did five laps in Valencia two years ago, two laps in Misano, but never a real test. So he needs to enjoy the experience and of course, eat a lot in the morning because it's more powerful!”

HRC test rider Takumi Takahashi stod in for Luthi at this week's Valencia test.
