Valentino Rossi has denied reports that he is considering hiring Ramon Forcada, current crew chief of team-mate Maverick Vinales, in place of Silvano Galbusera.

While Vinales and Forcada seem headed for a 'divorce', Rossi insisted he is not planning on replacing Galbusera:

"I think he will be my crew chief as long as I continue racing."

However the Italian did concede that it would be a 'good idea' if Forcada could work with his VR46 Academy rider Franco Morbidelli next season.

Morbidelli is expected to join the new SIC team in 2019, while Yamaha will be eager to keep the vastly experienced Forcada on board, even if Vinales has a new chief engineer.

Rossi worked with Jerry Burgess from his 2000 premier-class debut until replacing the Australian with Galbusera from 2014.

Yamaha hasn't won a MotoGP race in over a year.
