The Speed Up team has officially confirmed that Edgar Pons will replace Danny Kent at this weekend's Thai round of the Moto2 World Championship.

Former Moto3 world champion Kent, who has scored just eight points this season, was present at last weekend's Assen BSB round where he confirmed he will take part in a test for the Halsall Racing team with an eye towards 2019.

Pons, son of Sito, finished 16th and 17th in his wild-card appearances this year, having scored two points during a full season at his father's team in 2017.

Race-winning Speed Up rider Fabio Quartararo will move to MotoGP with the Sepang team next season, when Jorge Navarro will be one of Speed Up's Moto2 riders.
