Reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez celebrates his 26th birthday today (February 17).

The Spaniard has won seven titles since joining grand prix in 2008 and suffered just one title defeat since his premier-class debut in 2013.

Already a winner of 70 GPs, 44 with Repsol Honda in MotoGP, Marquez is currently fighting to regain full fitness for the start of the season after undergoing 'aggressive' shoulder surgery in December.

The Spaniard will also have a new team-mate for 2019 in the form of Jorge Lorenzo, who is the only rider other than Marquez to have won a MotoGP title in the past six years.

Marquez has signed to stay with Repsol Honda for the next two seasons, during which time he could equal Valentino Rossi's tally of nine world titles, including seven in the premier-class.

Rossi celebrated his 40th birthday yesterday.
