Kyle Busch was quick to praise his Joe Gibbs Racing team after securing a first ever race win at Las Vegas in Sunday's Shelby 427.

The victory capped an amazing run for Busch, who had been forced to start from the back of the field - despite pacing qualifying - following an engine problem in the opening practice session of the weekend.

Despite battling a loose car, Busch hit the front by lap 54 and was in the top-ten for the remainder of the race.

Pitting from the lead when the race went under caution on lap 260, Busch restarted in fourth place behind Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton and Jeff Gordon, but quickly dispatched Burton and Gordon to move into second place.

After battling ahead of Bowyer, Busch then survived two more caution periods to take victory before celebrating by kissing the start/finish line.

"Bowyer slipped off the bottom just a little bit (in turn one)," Busch said. "So I had my left-side tyres right on the white line there, and got a good drive through the center of the corner because it gripped good. I got right up to him. He started coming back down a little bit. I'm like, 'Oh, don't do that.' He got loose and I got by him. Fortunately, it was a clean move for us. We were able to get by him.

"It's awesome - this is just the feeling of a lifetime. This team does a phenomenal job for me - they're so great. They believe in me, they believe in Steve Addington (crew chief) and that's the mixture that we need. We're able to win races. We didn't have the best car today, but I feel like I drove a smart race anyway and did what we needed to do. We worked on it all day and kept making it better.

"I want to thank M&M's, Toyota, TRD, Pedigree, Combos - everybody on this team. They're phenomenal."
