Scott Riggs is upbeat about his Valvoline team has come together after a three day testing session at Daytona ahead of the Daytona 500 next month.

2004 will be the first season Riggs' has competed in the NEXTEL cup and he will be one of six rookies in the series this season.

Riggs felt that testing in his new car had gone well.

"This was basically our first time together and we learned a lot about each other," he said. "We would have liked to run faster in testing, but when I look at the big picture I really feel upbeat about how this Valvoline team has come together in a short time."

He admitted, however, that the team would have to find more speed from the #10 Valvoline Chevrolet before his debut in the big event.

"We still have some tweaking to do before we come back for the Daytona 500," he said. "The guys know what they have to do and I have all of the confidence in them.

"This is an exciting time for all of us, just thinking about the Daytona 500 is an awesome feeling. It's the biggest and most prestigious race and we want to come out of the gate with a strong statement."
