Monger continues Cadet Honda title charge.

A fantastic final lap from Billy Monger helped him scoop the third round of the British Cadet Honda Super 1 TKM Championship at Shenington right in the centre of Britain's motorsport hub and retain his lead in the points standings at the half way point of the season.

Monger began the final lap of the second final in fourth place behind the returning Callum Ilott, final one winner Luke Knott and Monger's nearest title rival Dave Wooder but with Shenington's long, fast, flat straights perfect for drafting Monger capitalised to pass all three on the final tour.

Crossing the line nearly four abreast Monger scraped home just twelve hundredths ahead of Wooder with Ilott slipping from first to third on the final tour and O-Plate winner Knott in fourth.

Monger, Wooder and Knott shared the three heat victories but the most consistent player in the heats, Welsh Champion Robbie Gallier failed to feature strongly in either final, finishing the first final fifth despite starting from pole and then slipping to sixth in the second final behind his fellow S1 rookie Jack Evans.

Thanks to his final two win Monger was able to increase his championship lead over Wooder to eleven points with three rounds to go with Knott a further nine points adrift in third and Gallier now more than 40 points off the pace in fourth but still holding on to the honour of top series rookie.

The fourth round of the Elf backed championship takes place at the Scottish circuit of Larkhall in early July.
