Anthoine Hubert beat ART Grand Prix teammate Nakita Mazepin to secure his first-ever pole position in GP3 at Silverstone.

The Frenchman set a 1m46.033s to pip Mazepin by 0.1s en route to sealing pole, moving him to within two points of championship leader and ART teammate Callum Ilott.

Practice pacesetter Giuliano Alesi was denied the ART squad a 1-2-3 by pipping Ferrari protege Ilott, who took pole last time out in Austria, to third place on the second row of the grid for Saturday’s opening race at the British Grand Prix venue.

Ryan Tveter was the second-quickest Trident driver in fifth, heading fellow teammate Alessio Lorandi by just 0.001s, while MP Motorsport's Dorian Boccolacci posted a time good enough for seventh.

Jake Hughes, who claimed his first victory in the series for over two years at the Red Bull Ring, was the slowest of the four ART runners on this occasion as he managed the eighth quickest time, with Campos duo Leonardo Pulcini and Simo Laksonen completing a top 10 separated by just over 0.8s.
