Top DTM and WEC drivers from across the globe have given their insight into how to attack the start of any race with the focus on how much of a risk is worth the reward at turn one.

Reigning DTM champion Rene Rast and new European Formula 3 champion Lando Norris are just two names in the latest SAFEisFAST.com video which focuses on different driver techniques heading into the first turn.

While Paul di Resta recently revealed in a Q&A with the programme that Formula E could be a potential option for him with Mercedes in the near-future, his fellow DTM rivals have explained how taking higher risks are more worthwhile in the sprint races compared to the challenges in endurance racing.

While perfecting racecraft at the first turn is all-important, Alex Lynn and Gary Paffett have also pointed to how key confidence in getting of the start line fast is as well as an entire race strategy.

“It matters a lot on the circumstances and if you are confident of making a good start,” former GP3 Series champion Lynn said. “It also depends on your position in the championship and whether you need to be aggressive or be more conservative. There are so many variations but for me it is down to how confident you are about making a good start.”
